What to Expect as an “Under the Oaks” Host
We’re so excited that you are interested in hosting an “Under the Oaks” backyard concert. We want to provide you with as much information as possible so everyone is on the same page. This is general information about what we’re expecting of you as the “Host” and what you can expect from us.
Nature
For our “Under the Oaks” Backyard concerts, we are aiming to bring a show right to your backyard. That means our performance will be the main event in your backyard that evening. Guests will bring chairs, or stand, as they listen and enjoy our show. These concerts are meant to engage the audience with music. If you love listening to a band at the show and hanging on every word, than an “Under the Oaks” backyard concert is perfect for you. If you are looking for us to play your BBQ or Backyard party then an “Under the Oaks” concert probably is not for you, but please feel free to reach out with questions!
Cost of the Show
We have three different options for our “Under the Oaks’ Backyard concerts.
Option 1 - Private / Ticketed show
You have a bunch of great friends and want to host a backyard concert. After a conversation with us, we decide how many people fit into your space and create a ticket link for your show. We then send the ticket link to you and you send it around to all of your friends/family/co-workers/parents/children and everyone you love but haven't seen in 15 months. The money from the ticket sales go directly to us and all you need to do is fill the seats with your people. This is a great option for people who think they can get 30-50 of their loved ones into their backyard
Option 2 - Private / Un-Ticketed
You have a bunch of people that you want to treat to a concert in your backyard. You pay us our standard fee for a GoldenOak Backyard Concert Series and your friends and family begin to think you're the coolest person they know. This option is great for someone who just wants to throw a great concert for the people they love
Option 3 - Mostly Private (But new friends are welcome too) / Ticketed
You want to host a house show, but you aren't sure if you can bring out 30-50 people, but you know you can get your core group of 10 or so. After a conversation with us, we decide how many people fit into your space and create a ticket link for your show. We then send you the ticket link, which you send around to the folks you know you can get to the show. After your people have had a chance to buy up the tickets, we open the show to some of our fans who are in the area. The fans will of course agree to all the terms set by you before the show and you both already have something in common: you love GoldenOak. This is a great option for someone who is looking to have a great backyard concert and meet some like-minded folks!
Timing
A typical “Under the Oaks” backyard concert will begin around 7:00 PM and we will play till about 8:30, but the day will begin much earlier than that. The band will arrive at your house around 4:00 PM to set up sound, lights, and do a soundcheck. Soundcheck should be wrapped up by 5:30, the band will then have some time to eat some food, you are welcome to cook the band a meal if you would like. We will then open doors to your guests around 6:30 PM and the show will start at 7:00 PM. If you’re interested in hosting a daytime show, let us know and we can look to move this schedule around to fit your plans!
Merch
At each “Under the Oaks” backyard concert, we will have our full merch set up. If you have a small table of sorts for us to use that is wonderful, if not we will provide one.
Food
We will have a discussion with you on how you would like to plan food for your show. In the past, hosts have asked guests to bring their own food and drinks, but if you would like a more communal style of eating we are happy to have that conversation with you.
